COVID-19 Innovation Prize Pitch Event

Watch four teams pitch their innovations to help our community recover from COVID-19 for a chance to win a total of $12,500 in monetary prizes to implement their ideas. Zoom link will be sent upon registration. 

The judges are:

Mike Seiman, CEO of Digital Remedy 

The finalists are:
Roche de Guzman, Associate Professor of Engineering: We are developing a quick and inexpensive blood test for the detection of neutralizing antibodies or defense proteins that render the COVID-19 coronavirus non-infectious. Once proven in the lab, this unique technology has the potential to be scaled and commercialized in a short time frame.

Eleanor Belvin, Music Business: FanDove is a social media platform that hosts one-on-one video meet & greet for musicians in order to help them recover from the absence of touring during the pandemic. 

Sheykha Gada, Biomedical Engineering; Mustak Azad, Biomedical Engineering; Brandon Tang, Mechanical Engineering; Henna Chaudhry, Neuroscience; Saher Chaudhry, Neuroscience; and Joshua Belecina, Mechanical Engineering: Velvid-19 is a unique reusable and washable mask that provides the user with an opportunity to express their profession, mood or personality. It includes two panels of velcro that can seamlessly be styled with customized patches.

Devon Blair, Finance: Hamptons Delivery Service was founded to provide a cheaper, local and simple delivery alternative for restaurants and consumers across Long Island. The connections we gained with both restaurants & employee’s allowed us to launch both Quick Work Today; a gig work service that connects employers with employees, and Restaurant Applications; an app development company that specializes in online ordering systems for restaurants.

Please be aware, when attending events during the school year, when classes are in session, parking is often limited on South Campus to faculty and students.
