Professor David Lalama Tribute concert

The Department of Music is presenting a tribute concert to say thank you to Professor David Lalama, who is retiring after 37 years of swinging service to the university.

This livestream event on Sunday, May 2, at 2 p.m., features the Hofstra Jazz Ensemble, directed by Lalama; the Hofstra Vocal Jazz Quartet, directed by Joseph Sammartano; and many Hofstra music alumni, who are returning to play under Lalama's direction.

The concert program features songs like Stevie Wonder's "Superstition," Duke Ellington's "In a Sentimental Mood," "Armando's Rhumba" by Chick Corea, and original compositions by Professor Lalama himself.

Access the free livestream here. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be rescheduled for Saturday, May 8, at 2 p.m.
