Earth Day 'Restore Our Earth': Climate Change and Migration: An Emerging Catastrophe
Many climate change experts warn of the disastrous results of climate change in the future, but for some, it is a present reality. As the effects of climate change become increasingly widespread and more detrimental than ever before, the world is expected to deal with an unprecedented number of climate migrants and refugees. Hofstra’s Center for Civic Engagement explores the legal, political, and cultural implications of this ongoing crisis.
The Center for Civic Engagement invites you to our annual Earth Day event series. Student clubs, community partners, academic departments, and environmental activists will gather together to celebrate and affirm the power of local action in the face of mounting evidence of our planet being in great peril. Join us in a discussion in the following three panels:
- 11 a.m.-12:45 p.m.-- A Conversation with Climate Organizers
- 1-2:25 p.m. -- Climate Change and Migration: An Emerging Catastrophe
- 4:20-5:45 p.m. -- The How-To's of Sustainable Housing
Please go to each individual event to register for the event link for that event.
