What is OcTubafest: An annual fall celebration of the Tuba featuring solo and ensemble performances.  This is our opportunity to show the limitless potential of these instruments and to expose the public to the beauty of the Tuba and its baby brother the Euphonium.

The first OcTubafest was held at Indiana University in 1972 by Harvey Phillips, the most important figure in the history of the tuba.  Harvey Phillips was a world class musician who devoted his life to promoting and improving the public perception of the tuba.  OcTubafest is a registered property of the Harvey Phillips Foundation and there are now more than 275 OcTubafests on college campuses across the country.  Professor Salzman is a former student of Harvey Phillips and is dedicated honoring his teacher by continuing his work.
