'Celebrating Our Own' featuring Kristin Fields

Hofstra University launches a spin-off of the Great Writers, Great Readings series titled, “Celebrating Our Own”. This series will feature Hofstra Alumni from our Creative Writing programs who have gone on to publish. Join “Celebrating Our Own” inaugural speaker, Kristin Fields, Class of 2007, on the publication of her second novel, A Frenzy of Sparks (Lake Union Publishing November 3, 2020).  Fields will be joined in conversation with her literary agent, Rachel Ekstrom Courage of Folio Literary Management. 

 

 

Kristin Fields studied writing at Hofstra University, where she won the Eugene Schneider Award for Short Fiction. After college, she worked on a historic farm, as a high school English teacher, designing museum education programs, and is currently leading an initiative to bring gardens to public schools in New York City. Fields is also the author of the novel A Lily In The Light (2019).

Rachel Ekstrom Courage is a literary agent at Folio Literary Management. Prior to becoming a literary agent, Rachel spent over a decade as a NYC-based book publicist. Over the course of her career as a publicist, she developed relationships with local and national media, securing reviews, features, radio and television interviews, online placement, bookstore and “outside the box” author events, presented, led workshops, and met one-on-one with authors, and more.
