Documentary Mondays: Dawnland
Hofstra Cultural Center and the Office of the Dean of Students present Documentary Mondays and "Never Forget" Talk Back Series. Join Professor Katrina Sims and Dean of Students Gabrielle St. Léger as they host the last in our series of “Documentary Mondays”. Today’s documentary follows a full program dedicated to Indigenous Peoples Day. Dawnland documents the work of the first government-sanctioned truth and reconciliation commission in the United States as the members travel across Maine, gathering testimony on the impact of the state's child welfare practices of removing children from Wabanaki families for placement in foster homes with white families. Join us for the virtual talk back discussion examining the theme of the night.
