Writing Proficiency Exam

The new Writing Proficiency Exam has three components: Step 1: upload a 3 - 5 page, documented essay (this paper should include at least one source with a works cited page and composed for a college class) Step 2: read a short essay about writing and revision strategies; and Step 3: write a minimum 750-word timed response essay about your experience crafting the essay you uploaded in Step 1.  Use this link to find materials to help you prepare for the exam:

Date: September 25

Time: 8 am or 2 pm

You must register through your Hofstra portal to sit for this exam.  You must already have credit for WSC 001 and WSC 002 to sit for this exam.

If you do not have a college-level, documented essay, or if you want more writing support, please register for WSC 2A, a one-credit, five-week DL course, beginning mid-semester on October 15th. WSC 2A shares the same learning goals and objectives as the full-semester WSC 002 class, but the smaller class size will provide step-by-step writing instruction to prepare for the Writing Proficiency Exam. This class is graded on a pass/fail basis, and the one-credit cost is included in your full-time tuition.
