Network with Pride: Peace Corps

Stay engaged and build connections - Network with Pride! Join us in our new series, Network with Pride. Login to zoom to engage as professionals from a variety of industries share valuable career and industry information, job search advice, recruiting opportunities, and more. Students will be able to join in the live chat or tune in to our YouTube channel to view the conversation at a later time. This week's program will feature Teckla Persons, Regional Recruiter from the Peace Corps. Teckla Persons served as a Rural Education Development Volunteer in Zambia from 2015-2017, where she taught English at a primary school. Outside of her role as a teacher, she contributed toward many community programs, including Girls’ and Boys’ Life Skills and Health Education clubs and Grassroots Soccer. Teckla earned a Bachelor of Art with a double major in Anthropology and Ancient Studies from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, FL. After finishing her service, she moved to New York City and worked for a local non-profit that did community service projects with youth in the Bronx. Teckla started working for the Peace Corps as a recruiter in July 2018. As an office-based recruiter in New York City, Teckla works with leads in four of the city’s boroughs, helping them with the application process and resume reviews. She also travels within her territory leading Application Workshops, Panel Events, Info Sessions, and other recruitment events in coordination with schools and community groups. Teckla loves collaborating on other projects with her fellow NYC recruiters.
