Hurricane Season 2020: Preparing in a Pandemic
This year's Atlantic hurricane season, which officially starts June 1, is forecast to be active, with most experts predicting up to 18 named storms, nine hurricanes and four major hurricanes. Join meteorologist Dr. Jase Bernhardt, director of Hofstra's Sustainability Studies graduate program, to discuss what to expect, how to prepare and what history - from the 1938 "Long Island Express" hurricane to Superstorm Sandy - can teach us. He will also share his current research, which focuses on using virtual reality to improve hurricane preparedness.
