Genie in the Bottle: Unleashing the Brain's Potential in Educational Settings

This workshop examines how advances in the field of neuroscience affect teaching and learning, fostering improved memory, and attention and creativity. Through discussion, hands-on and interactive activities, teachers and administrators learn about strategies to apply neuroscience in the classroom based on current, science-based research. Subjects include: Promoting sustained attention How to maximize memory: promoting long-term memory retention The role of novelty and pattern in attention The compulsion for videogames and how can we use this The effects of stress on learning Neurogenesis: How can the brain grow more and complex neuronal networks? Primary/Recency Effect: how to structure your class time for maximum learning Recognizing and avoiding entrenched 'neuromyths' Empowering children with brain understanding 6 CTLE hours available upon completion of the workshop

Please be aware, when attending events during the school year, when classes are in session, parking is often limited on South Campus to faculty and students.
