Building Worker Power: A Conversation with NY Times reporter and author Steven Greenhouse
Hofstra will host celebrated author and long-time NY Times labor reporter Steven Greenhouse. He will discuss and sign copies of his new best-selling book: Beaten Down, Worked Up: The Past, Present & Future of American Labor. Greenhouse’s widely praised new book tells riveting stories of key worker rights battles past and present, then proposes practical ways in which workers' collective power can be rekindled and reimagined.
Joining Steve at the event are Long Island’s Best Market workers to talk about ongoing protests over the LIDL chain takeover. Labor Studies Director Mary Anne Trasciatti will be facilitating.
Presented by the Labor Studies Program and the Center for Labor and Democracy, and co-sponsored by Hofstra Honors College, Hofstra Department of History, and Lawrence Herbert School of Communication.
