Gold Coast Youth Film Festival

A FREE Day of Workshops, Screenings & Special Programs for Emerging Filmmakers in Grades 7-12.  Attend hands-on filmmaking workshops and explore the State-of-the-Art Film and TV studios at Hofstra University's Lawrence Herbert School of Communication.  All workshops will be taught by working filmmakers and film industry professionals and Hofstra film faculty.

Attend hands-on filmmaking workshops on topics including:

  • Drones * Filmmaking
  • Editing
  • Film Studies
  • Film Industry Panels
  • Sound Design & Effects
  • Special FX Makeup
  • Stunts & Fight Choreography
  • Visual Effects
  • Employment Opportunities in The Film & Television Industries

All workshops will be taught by Hofstra film faculty, working filmmakers and film industry professionals, and GCIFF staff

Submit your short film to be screened during the event and for awards consideration and then celebrate this year’s winning films at the Closing Awards Ceremony. Deadline for Short Film Submissions is February 9th. See Short Film Submission guidelines below. (Please note that it is not required that you submit a short film to attend the event)

Submit Your Hofstra Event

Hofstra University is pleased to have the public join us for some of our on-campus events, which are held for the benefit of our students. Please be aware, when attending events during the school year, when classes are in session, parking is often limited on South Campus to faculty and students. There is additional parking available on North Campus, approximately a 10-minute walk from Adams Playhouse, through the Student Center and over the unispan. Thank you for your cooperation.
