High School Press Day

High School Student Press Day, sponsored by Hofstra University’s Lawrence Herbert School of Communication, allows students to explore a variety of journalism careers through presentations led by working professionals from major media outlets, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Newsday,WABC, the New York Post, MLB Radio, WCBS and Playbill Books/Playbill Broadcast. Prior years’ sessions have explored online journalism, social media, investigative reporting, entertainment and celebrities, photojournalism, sports writing, broadcast journalism, and radio. The goal of this program is to inform high school students about how journalists work in today’s rapidly changing media landscape and provide them with the opportunity to network with working professionals.

The event begins with breakfast and a keynote address. Registration is required for this event.

Hofstra journalism professor Peter Goodman runs High School Press Day. For more information call (516) 463-4873.
