International Scene Lectures: Prospects for Peace: Ending Forever Wars

This International Scene Lecture will explore Interventionalism with Major Daniel A. Sjursen. Major Sjursen (U.S. Army, ret.) and former history instructor at West Point, will talk about his experiences serving in Afghanistan and Iraq. As he discusses U.S. wars in the 21st century, Sjursen poses the question: Are veterans finally through with U.S. forever wars? He will also share his thoughts on the prospects for peace and how citizen mobilization will bring forever wars to an end.

Major Sjursen served tours with reconnaissance units in Iraq and Afghanistan and is the author of a memoir and critical analysis of the Iraq War titled Ghost Riders of Baghdad: Soldiers, Civilians, and the Myth of the Surge.

Presented by the Center for Civic Engagement, Institute for Peace Studies, and the International Scene Lectures.
