Fall Writing Proficiency Exam

The Writing Proficiency Exam -- a Hofstra graduation requirement -- fall 2019 dates are listed below.  These dates are open to all students who already have credit for WSC 001 and WSC 002, but do not have credit for the Writing Proficiency Exam (transfer credit, AP credit, or students who have previously failed the exam).  Register for these dates through the Hofstra portal just as you would any other class.

Please note:  Students who are presently enrolled in WSC002 will take the exam at the end of the semester in class.

Exam Dates and Times:

Wednesday, November 6th   6pm -8pm CV Star 210 (Registration opens October 28th)

Friday, November 22nd  10am - 12pm CV Starr 210 (Registration opens November 8th)

FYI:  The exam is administered via Blackboard and Turnitin.  The exam lasts two hours.  At the time of the exam the students will be asked to compose one clear, concise essay based on two essays on a common topic.  The first essay will be available to all students on Blackboard one week prior to the exam.   They should read this first essay vigorously (making their own markings and notations on the page) and bring it with them to the exam. The second essay will be posted on Blackboard at the time of the exam.
