Welcome Week 2019
Please join the students, faculty and staff of Hofstra University as we welcome you to campus to kick off the academic year. Hofstra University's Welcome Week is a five-day schedule of events that is designed to introduce you to the Hofstra campus, the rigor of academic life, our rich culture and traditions, on-campus resources, and the exciting diversity of Hofstra and the community around us. You will have the opportunity to participate in academic, social, athletic and community events as well as partake in trips to New York City and the surrounding Long Island Community. We have planned an exciting week filled with programs and activities that will help you get better acquainted with Hofstra's campus and become an engaged and involved student.
You and thousands of other students who call Hofstra their home can now gain access to campus resources, over 200 student clubs and organizations, and the many social, cultural and career opportunities of the New York metropolitan area.
Welcome Week 2019 is Thursday, August 29 to Monday, September 2, 209
Students living on campus will move in on Thursday, August 29, 2019. Off Campus and Commuting students will check in at the Intramural Fields on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at 2 p.m.
Check In
This is your first stop when you get to campus for Welcome Week 2019. Please head to the Intramural Fields located on the north side of campus for check in on Thursday, August 29th. Here you will receive your Hofstra ID card, class shirt, and other important information regarding the Welcome Week program.
Residential students begin check in at 8:00 a.m. (Please check your Pride email for your specific move in time in your housing letter from reslife[at]hofstra.edu)
Commuting students check in at 12:00 p.m.
Welcome Convocation
The first scheduled event after check-in for all students and family members is the Welcome Convocation at 2:45 p.m. in the David S. Mack Arena. All students should plan to be present at this event to kick off Welcome Week 2019.
Following the convocation, there will be a Family Reception for students, guests, faculty, and members of the platform party at the Fitness Center, at 4 p.m.
Participation in Welcome Week is required.
