Yanagiya Tozabaro performing Rakugo in English
Following his standing-room only performance in Fall 2018, Yanagiya Tozaburo III, a master rakugo performer, returns to Hofstra to perform rakugo (Japanese comic oral narrative). Born and raised in Tokyo, Yanagiya Tozaburo became a disciple of master Rakugo performer Yanagiya Gontaro III in 1999, after he dropped out of a prestigious private university. YanagiyaTozaburo has performed all over the world, and has appeared on Japanese television in the show Shoten. And for the first time, Hofstra Japanese students will perform kobanashi as Yanagiya-san's apprentices.
Presented by the Department of Comparative Literature, Languages, and Linguistics, the Asian Studies Program, and the History Department.
