3rd Annual Girls in Engineering Day

Fred DeMatteis School of Engineering and Applied Science presents 3rd Annual Girls in Engineering Day: Career Insights and Opportunities for Women in STEM with featured speaker Shila Shah-Gavnoudias, P.E. , Vice President at AECOM and Long Island Busienss Leader. Attendees will also participate in a hands-on engineering workshop and tour our state-of-the art engineering and computer science labs.

Shila Shah-Gavnoudias is a vice president at AECOM. She serves as a business development strategist for the Long Island region within sectors of transportation, water, power, construction management, environment, and buildings. She is a professional engineer and holds a Master of Science in engineering management and Bachelor of Science in civil engineering. Prior to joining AECOM, Shah-Gavnoudias was the commissioner of public works for Nassau County, a county with a population of approximately 1.4 million. She led a staff of approximately 700 in charge of planning, design, construction management, operations, and maintenance of county facilities, including roads, bridges, sewage treatment plants, parks, traffic signals, buses, and facilities.

There is additional parking available on North Campus, approximately a 10-minute walk from Adams Playhouse, through the Student Center and over the unispan. Thank you for your cooperation.
