HUHC: Seal Watching Trip

Join HUHC mentor Dr. Bret Bennington for a winter nature hike at Cupsogue Beach to look for seals. Seals (pinnepeds) are winter visitors to Long Island’s coastal waters, migrating down from the arctic circle in search of warmer waters and fish to feed on. We have an excellent chance of seeing harbor seals (Phoca vitulina) and grey seals (Halichoerus grypus).  If we are lucky, we could see a harp seal (Phoca greenlandica) or even a rare hooded seal (Cystophora cristata).
