American Chamber Ensemble (ACE) Spring Concert

The Hofstra Music Department presents American Chamber Ensemble (ACE) Spring Concert performing Celebrating Female Composers From the 19th Century to Today. Celebrating the remarkable contributions of women to the art of composition, selections for this concert will be Germaine Tailleferre’s Calme et Sans Lenteur for violin, cello and piano, songs by Nadia Boulanger (seen below with her sister and fellow composer Lili), as well as herThree Pieces for Cello and Piano, Rebecca Clarke’s Tiger, Tiger for soprano and piano and her Two Pieces for Violin and Cello, Libby Larsen’s Songs Without Words for clarinet and piano, two songs from Joelle Wallach’s Meow Mix for soprano and piano, Lili Boulanger’s Cortege and Nocturne for violin and piano and Amy Beach’s Ah, Love But a Day for soprano, violin and piano and her Trio for violin, cello and piano.

Composer Joelle Wallach will speak about each composer and their music, as well as her own work. Performers will be ACE members, pianist Marilyn Lehman, soprano Tammy Hensrud, violinists Eriko Sato and Deborah Wong, and cellist Chris Finckel. Special guest will be Hofstra ACE Award recipient, clarinetist Julianna Pierdomenico.

Tickets: $20 general admission; $15 senior citizen (over 65); Two free tickets with current HofstraCard.
