Sigma Gamma Rho Chapter Meeting

A chapter meeting for Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated members is being held on Saturday, December 1 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Student Center room 218.

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated is a historically African American sorority founded in 1922 at Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana by seven educators. We set ourselves apart from the other sororities in many ways. One of these ways is by being the only sorority in the National Pan Hellenic Council to be founded on a different campus. Since 1922 we have expanded to host thousands of chapters all over the world including Bermuda, The Virgin Islands, and Germany. We pride ourselves in giving back to the community through various different philanthropies. Scholarship, Sisterhood, and Service are the three tenets of excellence that we are based on. We have over 80,000 members from various ethnic backgrounds. Is the link to our national website.

In 1993 nine distinguished young women attending Hofstra University were in search of a sisterhood. They sought after an organization that was a combination of esteem, class, sisterhood, and service. Not satisfied with what Hofstra had to offer at that time, they decided to broaden their search. Finally they found an organization that met and surpassed their standards. Finally, they found Sigma Gamma Rho. And on December 11, 1993 Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc. Nu Tau Chapter was established. Nu Tau chapter has dedicated years of service and enrichment to the Hofstra community and is looking forward to continuing that tradition. Our goal is to continue to enrich the Hofstra Community and of course to fulfill our motto "Greater Service, Greater Progress". To see the various programs we have administered on campus and to follow our upcoming ones please visit Nu Tau Chapter Facebook Page or instagram page @Nutausgrho or our website Http://
