6x9: A Virtual Experience of Solitary Confinement (Virtual Reality Project)

6x9A Virtual Experience of Solitary Confinement will be available October 24 in the David Filderman Gallery, 9th floor Axinn Library. It will be offered prior to and immediately following Hidden in Sight: Voices Unheard, a public program sponsored by the Hofstra University Museum of Art for Day of Dialogue and in conjunction with the Museum exhibition, Hidden in Sight: Photographing Incarceration. This virtual reality immersive project, created by The Guardian, asks viewers to consider what it must be like to spend 23 hours a day in a cell measuring 6x9 feet for days, weeks, months or even years. 6x9 places you inside a U.S. solitary confinement prison cell and reveals the psychological damage that can ensue from isolation.

A presentation by students in the "VR Storytelling" course at the Lawrence Herbert School of Communication
