Hidden in Sight: Voices Unheard

This interactive, immersive program will be a profoundly moving experience as it will encourage people to think about the harsh realities of incarceration and talk about how communities can address the problem. The United States has the highest rate of incarceration of any country in the world, with over 2 million people currently imprisoned. This exhibition features photographs spanning more than 50 years by three artists, Danny Lyon (American, born 1942), Jessica Earnshaw (Canadian, born 1983), and Isadora Kosofsky (American, born 1993), highlighting the varied critical issues within the prison system in America.

A Hofstra University Museum presentation for Day of Dialogue

This discussion will be preceded by a virtual reality immersive project by The Guardian titled "6x9:  A Virtual Experience of Solitary Confinement."  (see below for details  of screening)

Funding has been provided by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
