First International Symposium on Creative Writing in Spanish

On the inauguration of the new MFA in Spanish at Hofstra, distinguished writers from Latin America and Spain will read excerpts of their works in bilingual format, as well as participate in dialogues about current Spanish literature and literary translation. Invited writers include: Lina Meruane (Chile), Daniel Alarcón (Perú-USA), Cristina Rivera Garza (México- USA), Verónica Gerber (México), Pedro Lopez Adorno (Puerto Rico), Luis García Montero, Fernando Valverde, Fernando Opere (Spain), Christina Maesweeney, Natasha Wimmer, and Heather Cleary (United States).

The Joseph G. Astman Cultural Events are presented in loving memory of Dr. Joseph G. Astman, founder of the Hofstra Cultural Center. Dr. Astman was a humanist, cultural comparatist and international scholar.
