Hofstra University Army ROTC Commissioning Ceremony

The Army Reserves Officers' Training Corps at Hofstra University, The Cadets and Cadre of Task Force Havoc cordially invite you to attend our Commissioning Ceremony on Friday, May 18 at 3:00 p.m. in Monroe Lecture Center. Nine cadets, including four Hofstra students, will be commissioned as officers in the grade of Second Lieutenant (2LT) in the United States Army. Hofstra is a host university for the Senior Army ROTC Program on Long Island and for some additional area institutions.

The ROTC cadets will participate in moving traditions, including having their 2LT rank fastened on their uniform by spouses, parents and other family members and the Silver Dollar Salute. The latter symbolizes a welcome to service and to the profession of arms. The guest speaker for the ceremony is Major General Patrick M. Higgins ’80 (retired).

The four Hofstra seniors who will be commissioned are 2LT Brendan Hoffman (Criminology), 2LT Mark McCaskie (History), 2LT Michael Sticco (Russian) and 2LT Carrie Viscanti (Legal Studies in Business), who is graduating with the distinction of Distinguished Military Graduate (DMG), an honor bestowed to undergraduates who rank in the top 20 percent of Army ROTC graduates nationwide.

No RSVP or advance registration is necessary to attend the ceremony.
