Hofstra Women's Lacrosse vs. High Point

The Hofstra Women's Lacrosse team will conclude the 2018 regular season on Thursday when it hosts nationally-ranked High Point. Opening draw control from James M. Shuart Stadium is slated for 7 p.m. Hofstra will bring an 8-8 record into the final game of its regular season against the Panthers. 

Leading the way in scoring this season for the Pride is sophomore Alyssa Parrella with 76 points on 53 goals and 23 assists. Fellow sophomore Alexa Mattera has contributed 46 points on 40 goals and six assists, while leading the team with 65 draw controls. Freshman Katie Whelan has posted 34 points on 27 goals and seven assists, while also adding 50 draw controls. Sophomore Darcie Smith is tops on the squad with 35 ground balls and second with 14 caused turnovers. Freshman Shannon Boyle has a team-best 18 caused turnovers, along with 23 ground balls. Junior Maddie Fields has played nearly every minute in goal this season and tallied a goals against average of 11.01 and a save percentage of .453. 

High Point, currently #19 In the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association poll, is riding a 13-game win streak into its regular season finale as the Panthers are 14-2 this season. They have played a trio of CAA teams with wins over Elon and Drexel and a narrow loss to James Madison. Brooke Stevens leads the Panthers with 76 points on 31 goals and 45 assists, while Erica Perrotta has 65 points on 42 goals and 23 assists and Abby Hormes has totaled 48 goals and three assists this season. 

This is the first-ever meeting between Hofstra and High Point in women's lacrosse.
