Hofstra Women's Lacrosse vs. Dartmouth

The Hofstra Women's Lacrosse team will play its first home game since February 24 when it hosts Dartmouth on Friday. First draw control from James M. Shuart Stadium is scheduled for 5 p.m. Hofstra is 3-3 on the season following a 1-1 slate last week. The Pride earned a victory over Quinnipiac on Tuesday before dropping a road decision to #23 Johns Hopkins on Saturday.

She is also tops on the team with 33 draw controls and 13 ground balls and ranks second with six caused turnovers. Sophomore Alexa Mattera is second on the team in scoring with 15 points on 13 goals and two assists, while also adding 16 draw controls, 10 ground balls and a team-high 10 caused turnovers. Freshman Katie Whelan and senior Drew Shapiro are also in double figures in scoring as Whelan has 12 points (9G, 3A) and Shapiro has 10 points (9G, 1A). Whelan is second on the squad with 23 draw controls. Junior Maddie Fields, who has 41 saves over the Pride's last three games, has played nearly every minute in net for Hofstra this season and has compiled a goals against average of 9.98 and a save percentage of .496.

Dartmouth is 3-1 this season and most recently defeated Columbia, 20-10, on March 3. Ellie Carson leads the team with 19 points on 16 goals and three assists. Three other players have 10 points as Elizabeth Mastrio (9G, 1A), Katie Bourque (5G, 5A) and Tori Chanenchuck (1G, 9A) rank second on the team in scoring. Claire Marshall leads the team in draw controls (16) and ground balls (11).

Both head coaches in the contest are graduates of Northwestern as Hofstra Head Coach Shannon Smith graduated in 2012 and Dartmouth Head Coach Danielle Spencer is a 2010 graduate.

Friday's game is the second-ever between Hofstra and Dartmouth as the Pride won the previous meeting, 9-8, in New Hampshire during the 2014 campaign.
