Hofstra Women's Lacrosse vs. Bucknell

The Hofstra Women's Lacrosse team will open the 2018 campaign on Saturday when the Pride host Bucknell. The first draw control is scheduled for 12 p.m. from James M. Shuart Stadium. Admission is free to the game. Hofstra returns two of its top three and three of its top five scorers from a season ago as sophomore Alyssa Parrella, senior Drew Shapiro and senior Carlee Ancona look to lead the way. Parrella returns after posting 47 goals, 29 assists, 76 points, 54 draw controls, 39 ground balls and 21 caused turnovers in 2017. Shapiro had 33 goals and six assists, while also adding 28 draw controls, 16 ground balls and seven caused turnovers. Ancona added 13 goals, 13 assists, 21 ground balls, 19 draw controls and 11 caused turnovers. Junior Maddie Fields played all 16 games in net last season and had a goals against average of 12.21 and a save percentage of .396. 

Bucknell opened the season with 5-4 overtime win over Robert Morris on Saturday. Five different goal scorers found the net for the Bison in the game, while Callie DeWitt and Morgan Steinhacker each had four ground balls. Jamie DeWitt posted 11 saves in net for Bucknell.

Saturday's game marks the 14th all-time meeting between Hofstra and Bucknell, with the Pride holding an 8-5 lead in the series. Hofstra captured a dominating 15-5 win over the Bison last season.
