Brain Bee 2018

The Hofstra Northwell School of Medicine invites high school students to participate in the annual Brain Bee competition and win the opportunity to compete at the national level. This event exposes young students to the study of the brain early in their academic careers, and aims to motivate students to pursue careers in neurology, neurosurgery, or neuroscience. Registration is open to all interested high school students (ages 14-18) until December 21.  Here’s the site:

Following the laboratory examination, participants will have lunch with current undergraduate and medical students, physicians, scientists, and professors.It involves three rounds:
1) a written test of multiple choice questions on brain facts;
2) laboratory demonstrations on normal and pathological human brains and spinal cord specimens;
3) a test to identify anatomical structures and functions in real human brain specimens.
