Hofstra Baseball vs. St. John's

The Hofstra University Baseball team will look to break a five game losing streak when it welcomes St. John's to University Field Wednesday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. Hofstra (14-14) is coming off a three-game sweep at the hands of CAA-rival Elon. The Pride pitched well enough to win all three games, but could not generate enough offense in 2-1, 6-3 and 5-3 losses.
The Red Storm enters the game with a 22-10 record and is ranked 23rd in the latest Collegiate Baseball News poll. St. John's swept a series from Creighton this past weekend and has won eight games in a row.
Jeff Belge will start on the mound for the Red Storm. The sophomore is 2-3 with a 3.69 ERA in nine appearances. The Hofstra starter is yet to be determined, though either Brad Camarda or Jimmy Joyce is likely to get the nod. Camarda is 2-1 with a 4.08 ERA in eight appearances, while Joyce has not recorded a decision in four appearances and has a 6.75 ERA.
Hofstra trails in the overall series with St. John's, 45-14. The teams played a home-and-home series last season with the Red Storm winning, 14-3, at home and, 4-1, at University Field.
