AIA/LIS Lecture: The Dazzle of Vermilion: Tracing the Early Cinnabar Trade in the Ancient Andes -- POSTPONED

This lecture has been moved to October 29. Learn about the gold mask that was excavated from Huaca del Loro on the far north coast of Peru and dates from 1000 to 1200 AD. This lecture is presented by Dr. Richard Burger, Recipient of the AIA/LIS Scholars Grant, and Director of Graduate Studies, Yale University. The Archaeological Institute of America is dedicated to the protection of the world’s cultural heritage through the encouragement and support of archaeological research and publication. A nonprofit cultural and educational organization, the AIA is the oldest and largest archaeological institution in the United States. AIA/LIS monthly lectures offer members and the public opportunities to learn the latest developments from archaeologists and related professionals.

Admission to each lecture is $10 for the general public (unless otherwise indicated) and free for AIA/LIS members or with current faculty/staff/student HofstraCard.

The entire series is co-sponsored by Hofstra’s Department of Anthropology and the Hofstra Cultural Center.
