A Seat at the Table: Converging Voices: Gender and Identity

The Hofstra University Museum is hosting A Seat at the Table: Converging Voices: Gender and Identity. Take a “seat at the table” with several artists from the exhibition Converging Voices: Gender and Identity along with select Hofstra faculty and students, and be a part of an intimate conversation about themes raised by the exhibition. Karyn Valerius, PhD, director of women’s studies and disability studies and associate professor of English, Hofstra University, serves as moderator.

Friday, December 8, 1-4 p.m. A Poetry Writing Workshop: Converging Voices: Gender and Identity
In this enjoyable and lively poetry writing workshop, we look closely at and discuss works of art in the exhibition Converging Voices: Gender and Identity. Participants will discover and develop their own abilities to interpret and write about works of art. Co-facilitators: Liv Mammone, poet and book editor, Hofstra University; Dayna Troisi, poet, freelance writer, and adjunct professor of English, Hofstra University. Limited to 12 participants; all levels of writing experience. Fee: $7 general and $5 for seniors (65+).

Converging Voices: Gender and Identity Exhibition

Hours:
Tuesday - Friday, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Saturday - Sunday, Noon - 4 p.m.

 

Galleries are closed during installations, holidays and University recesses. 

Funding support for the exhibition has been provided by Astoria Bank and the New York State
Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature. Presented in conjunction with the 17th Berkshire Conference on the History of Women, Genders, and Sexualities to be held at Hofstra University June 1 - 4, 2017.

Hofstra University is pleased to have the public join us for some of our on-campus events, which are held for the benefit of our students. Please be aware, when attending events during the school year, when classes are in session, parking is often limited on South Campus to faculty and students. There is additional parking available on North Campus, approximately a 10-minute walk from Adams Playhouse, through the Student Center and over the unispan. Thank you for your cooperation.
