Hofstra Men's Basketball vs. Delaware

The Hofstra Men's Basketball team will return to the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex on Thursday when it hosts longtime rival Delaware. Hofstra (11-7, 4-2 CAA) has played quite well as of late, winning four of its last five games. The Pride is coming off a strong road trip as Hofstra defeated Towson (76-73) on Thursday and Drexel (91-86) on Saturday to move into second place early in the conference standings.

The Pride placed four players in double figures in its last game as senior Rokas Gustys (20 points, 16 rebounds), junior Justin Wright-Foreman (20 points, 8-9 FGs), Eli Pemberton (19 points) and Jalen Ray (12 points, 6-6 FTs) keyed the five-point win over the Dragons.

Wright-Foreman is tops on the team with 25.6 points per game, while Gustys is averaging a team-high 11.5 rebounds per game. Wright-Foreman also leads the way with 56 assists.

Delaware is 11-8 overall and also 4-2 in league play and enters Thursday's encounter having won three straight games. The Blue Hens most recently captured a 61-60 win at James Madison on Saturday. Ryan Daly leads the team with 17.4 points per game, while Eric Carter leads UD with 9.2 rebounds per contest.

It will be a familiar foe for Hofstra on Thursday as the Pride and the Blue Hens have met 86 times in the longtime series, with Hofstra holding a 54-32 advantage. The 86 all-time meetings is tied for Hofstra's most common opponent all-time with Drexel. The Pride and Delaware first met in the 1954-55 season with Hofstra winning both meetings that season. The squads met three times a season ago with Hofstra capturing two of the three wins, although Delaware won the meeting in the CAA Championship Opening Round in March. Hofstra has won six of the last seven in the series.
