Hofstra Men's Lacrosse vs. Drexel

The second-ranked Hofstra Men's Lacrosse team (10-0, 2-0 CAA) will be looking to extend their undefeated streak this Saturday, April 15 when the Pride return home for the first time in three weeks to face the Dragons of Drexel University at James M. Shuart Stadium. Game time for this Colonial Athletic Association match-up is 7 p.m.

Hofstra, which is ranked in the Top 10 in all three weekly polls for the fourth consecutive week, equaled its best ranking ever in the Division I weekly polls when the Pride climbed to second in both the USILA/Nike Coaches Poll and the Maverik/Inside Lacrosse Media Poll this week. The rankings equal those achieved at the end of the 2006 regular season when the Pride was 16-1.

Last Saturday, Hofstra continued their winning streak and improved its CAA record to 2-0 on the season with an 11-9 victory at Delaware. The Pride jumped out to a 5-2 lead after the first quarter and fought off a late UD rally to improve to 10-0 on the year. Senior Josh Byrne posted his eighth multi-goal game and his sixth game with three goals or more with four goals and one assist. Sophomore Jimmy Yanes equaled his season-highs with three goals, one assist and four points. Junior Alex Moeser recorded his sixth multi-goal game with two goals and one assist and freshman Ryan Tierney added a goal and two assists for his eighth contest with three points or more. Junior goalie Jack Concannon made nine saves for his 10th win of the season and the 19th of his career.

Drexel and the Pride will be meeting for the 31st time but just the fourth time for the HEADstrong Foundation's Hero Bowl between the two programs. Hofstra leads the series, 23-7 but Drexel has won four of the last six meetings. The Pride won the last encounter, 10-4 in Philadelphia in 2016. Hofstra also holds a 2-1 advantage in the Hero Bowl battle in honor of the late HEADstrong Foundation founder and Hofstra Men's Lacrosse player, Nicholas Colleluori

The Dragons of Drexel enter Saturday's CAA contest with a 4-6 overall record and a 1-1 slate in the CAA after their 13-12 victory over Fairfield last Saturday. Drexel, which opened the season with four consecutive losses, has wins over Bryant (7-5), Saint Joseph's (12-8), St. John's (9-7) and Fairfield (13-12). Their losses have come against Virginia (18-14), Albany (19-8), Villanova (15-13), Marist (11-7), Providence (9-8 in OT) and Towson (8-7).
