Don't Get Misclassified: IRS Rules Pertaining to Independent Contractors and the Self- Employed

The Maurice A Deane School of Law at Hofstra University's Federal Tax Clinic students and a Professor will provide a FREE workshop on the IRS Rules pertaining to independent contractors and the self-employed,  sponsored and promoted by the Center for Entrepreneurship 

 

Some of the topics that will be covered include:

- How to avoid penalties and arbitration with the IRS or Tax Court by filing properly. 

- Recent developments that independent contractors and the self-employed should be aware of due to COVID-19.

- Classifications and definitions created by the IRS

- Taxes you are liable for: Income tax, Self-employment Tax, Estimated tax

- Nuances of each of the following forms, 1040, 1040-SR, Schedule C, Schedule SE, 1040-ES

- Statutory codes that allow for deductions
