Africans at Work: Life & Labor in Africa & America film series Comments
The annual film series from the Labor Studies Program celebrates African-American History Month by showcasing important documentaries on the rapidly changing lives and labor of working people and working-class movements in America and Africa. Introductions and discussions led by Hofstra faculty and invited speakers.
Dates: Thursdays, February 14, 20 & 28, 2013
At the River I Stand will be shown on February 20 at 3:00 p.m.
Martin Luther King’s last battle supporting striking low-wage workers in Memphis, ending with his assassination.
The Dark Side of Chocolate will be shown on February 28 at 12:45 p.m.
West African cocoa and the global fight against child labor.
All three films will be shown in the Leo A. Guthart Cultural Center Theater, Joan and Donald E. Axinn Library, First Floor, South Campus
