“Writing through Memoir, A Restorative Justice Tool; Formerly Incarcerated Writers Read Their Stories”
This presentation describes how incarcerated women use guided memoir writing, pioneered by the Herstory project, to connect with their past and restore themselves to society. Herstory Writers Workshop is an organization that seeks to empower those whose voices have been silenced to shape their stories in order to change hearts, lives and laws. It offers workshops in Long Island’s three county jails and conducts education and activism programs bringing together formerly incarcerated writers, student activists and youth at risk.
This event will take place in Hauser Hall, Room 109.
