Issues in Judaism Lecture Series: American Idols, Jewish Stars Comments

The Hofstra Cultural Center and Hofstra Hillel's Issues in Judaism Lecture Series Fall 2012 presents a four-part lectures series titled “History and Culture: Iran Italy Germany America.”

The fourth lecture, on Thursday, November 29, will be:

"American Idols, Jewish Stars: Sandy Koufax, Lenny Bruce, Bob Dylan, Barbra Streisand"

Speaker: Dr. David E. Kaufman

Associate Professor of Religion and the Florence and Robert Kaufman Endowed Chair in Jewish Studies, Hofstra University

Author,”Jewhooing the Sixties: American Celebrity and Jewish Identity” (forthcoming, November 2012)

There will be a book signing following the lecture.

 

A question and answer period will follow each lecture. Lectures take place at the Guthart Cultural Center Theater, Axinn Library, First Floor, South Campus.

 

Cost:

$22 general public

$20 senior citizen (over 65 with ID) or PEIR member

$15  matriculated non-Hofstra student with ID

ONE FREE subscription with current faculty/matriculated student/staff HofstraCard (must present HofstraCard at door).

Parking Notice
Hofstra University is pleased to have the public join us for some of our on-campus events, which are held for the benefit of our students. Please be aware, when attending events during the school year, when classes are in session, parking is often limited on South Campus to faculty and students.
