PRIDE Exhibit Comments

Featuring 16 paintings and photographs by or about backstretch, or barn-area, workers of the Belmont Park, Aqueduct and Saratoga racetracks, the PRIDE exhibit is part of a partnership between the Hofstra University and Backstretch Employee Service Team (B.E.S.T.), a non-profit advocacy and support group for the workers. Artistic expression is encouraged among the workers by B.E.S.T. as a means of relaxation and release from a long day at the track handling vital behind-the-scenes work.  The event was organized by Hofstra University’s Special Collections Department and B.E.S.T.
