Spring Break Program: Outdoor Adventures Comments
With Outdoor Adventures, you can learn some of the essentials skills that the pioneers early of America needed for their daily lives. In this exciting new program students will participate in a variety of activities using Nassau BOCES' Brookville Environmental Education Center, including homestead ecology, challenge courses, survival and orienteering.
Learn skills like:
- Blacksmithing - Students will learn the techniques and tools that were needed at the forge, and put these skills to the test
- Outdoor cooking - Students will learn safe fire-building techniques, as well as simple recipes to cook over a fire.
- How to build a survival shelter - Students will be taught how to prepare a shelter with the proper materials, in the case of an emergency
- Using a compass to find your way - Students will learn to escape their electronics and use only a simple compass to find their way around the campus
Bring your high energy for four fun days about learning outdoor skills!
Note: This course will be held at Nassau BOCES Brookville Environmental Education Center located Brookville, NY.

Sessions take place rain or shine. Students should wear appropriate outdoor clothing for the season's changeable temperature and weather
Transportation will not be provided between Hofstra and Nassau BOCES
