Jail & Bail Fundraiser for the Special Olympics Comments
Hofstra Goes for Gold, Delta Alpha Pi Honors Society, and the SGA Programming Board would like to present the 2nd Annual Jail & Bail Fundraiser! Last year we raised $6,630 for Special Olympics sponsoring approximately 35 Special Olympic athlete’s seasons!Â
Don’t know what Jail & Bail is?Â
For $5 you can arrest your friends (or even some administrators) for various "crimes" (i.e., messy roommate, ex-boyfriend, Met's fan, too noisy, etc). Public Safety officers, provided with a time and place will find and arrest them. After being arrested, the friend will sit in front of a jury ofÂ
administrators that will set their bail. They will then be put in a jail constructed in the Student Center Atrium until they can raise the money and post bail! (The entire event is voluntary and no one will be forced to participate.) Last year our jailees got creative and made signs, did dances,
sang songs and begged friends to spare some change and they had a blast!Â
Starting Wednesday February 27, you can purchase warrants at our atrium table in the Student Center! Warrant selling ends March 13 so buy them early!!
If you’re not looking to get arrested and want to help out a great cause, buy an “immunity card” for $35. If someone tries to “arrest” you day of, just present the card!
Keep in Mind - You may be arrested too! We encourage everyone to participate the day of and serve your time in “jail”! There will be food, performances, music, and FUN!
Â
All proceeds will go to Special Olympics
