Creative Arts Therapy Conference: Art Therapy in a New Media Culture
In our present art therapy cultural environment we see growth and changes in creative approaches, techniques and research. New technology and new ways of looking at the old approaches give us a current synthesis of current art therapy trends. Join us at the CAT Conference at which the presenters will share their direct experiences working with various populations.
9-10:30 a.m. Featured Keynote: Diane Rode, MPS, CCLS, ATR-BC, LCAT
“Fostering Resilience and Creativity Through Art, Technology and Media”
The creative arts and media can be powerful tools for facilitating coping, adjustment and healing for children, adolescents, and families who have experienced trauma. In this keynote, we explore specific examples of art making, video production, and music therapy interventions that demonstrate the power of the arts in healing experiences of trauma and loss. Children, adolescents, and parents can benefit significantly from opportunities for self-expression and reflection, as will be demonstrated in samples of work created by children and adolescents with terminal illnesses and school-age children who experienced the trauma of 9/11.
