We Hold These Truths…
This exhibition, which ends on Friday, July 26, celebrates the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation and examines issues of slavery, middle passage, the abolition movement, emancipation, and American freedom through the presentation of historic and contemporary artworks as well as artifacts and ephemera by artists such as Willie Cole, Daniel Chester French, Richard Hunt, William H. Johnson, Glenn Ligon, Howardena Pindell, Betye Saar, and Kara Walker.
This exhibition is held in conjunction with the Hofstra Cultural Center Conference For their actual freedom: 150th Anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation to be held Fall 2013.
This exhibit runs from Tuesday, April 16 - Friday, July 26, 2013.
